Know Your Vote App ("we," "us," or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. We built this app to empower citizens — not to exploit their data.

Location Information

We request access to your general location (city/state level) to identify your elected representatives. We do not track your precise GPS location or movement history. Location access is optional — you can manually enter your address instead.

2. How We Use Your Information

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share your information with political parties, campaigns, advertisers, or data brokers. Your political preferences and engagement data are never sold or rented to third parties.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud), protected by industry-standard encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest. We implement role-based access controls so only you can read and write your own data.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us.

5. Push Notifications

We may send push notifications about political actions relevant to your representatives and issue preferences. You can enable or disable notifications at any time through your device settings or within the app under Settings → Notifications.

6. Children's Privacy

Know Your Vote App is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately and we will delete it.

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete personal information, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. 9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. When we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect. Continued use of the app after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

10. Nonpartisan Commitment

Know Your Vote App is an independent, nonpartisan platform. We are not affiliated with any political party, campaign, government agency, or political organization. Your political activity data within the app is never used to influence, target, or profile you for political purposes beyond personalizing your own in-app experience.
