1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Know Your Vote App. By creating an account or using the App, you confirm that you are at least 13 years of age and capable of entering into a binding agreement.
2. Description of Service
Know Your Vote App is a nonpartisan civic engagement platform that provides:
- Information about your elected representatives at federal, state, and local levels
- Translation of political actions into real-world personal impact
- Community ratings and feedback on representative performance
- AI-powered political Q&A (optional, requires separate consent)
- News aggregation with impact analysis
- Civic engagement tools including boycott tracking
Nonpartisan Platform: Know Your Vote App is not affiliated with any political party, campaign, candidate, government agency, or political organization. The App does not endorse or oppose any candidate, party, or political position.
3. User Accounts
To access certain features, you must create an account using a valid email address. You are responsible for:
- Maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Providing accurate and truthful information
- Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account
4. Acceptable Use
When using the App, you agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fraudulent information or ratings
- Manipulate community ratings or engagement metrics
- Use the App to harass, threaten, or intimidate any person
- Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or modify the App
- Use automated tools or bots to interact with the App
- Violate any applicable local, state, national, or international law
5. Community Ratings
The App allows users to rate elected officials and public figures. By submitting ratings:
- You confirm that your ratings reflect your genuine opinion
- You understand that ratings are anonymized and aggregated
- You agree not to coordinate rating campaigns to artificially inflate or deflate scores
We reserve the right to remove or adjust ratings that we determine, in our sole discretion, to be fraudulent or manipulative.
6. AI-Powered Features
The App includes optional AI features powered by third-party providers (currently Anthropic). By using AI features:
- You acknowledge that AI responses are informational and may not be fully accurate
- You consent to the transmission of your query data to the AI provider (as described in our Privacy Policy)
- You understand that AI analysis does not constitute professional, legal, or financial advice
7. Intellectual Property
All content, design, graphics, and code within the App are the intellectual property of Know Your Vote App and are protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our prior written consent.
8. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:
- The accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of political data displayed
- That the App will be uninterrupted or error-free
- That AI-generated analysis or truth meter scores are accurate
- That financial impact estimates reflect your actual experience
Political information changes frequently. Always verify important information through official government sources.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Know Your Vote App shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to reliance on political information, AI analysis, or community ratings.
10. Account Termination
You may delete your account at any time through Settings > Privacy & Security > Delete Account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Upon termination, your data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
11. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or via email. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall be resolved in accordance with applicable law.
